The Leaves, They are a-Changin'

Just a walk in the park!
Kathy is here!
Happiness abounds.

We stayed up quite late talking and catching up last night (well, truthfully, it was into the morning!), so we slept  in as long as we could and had brunch in one of the diners close to the apartment.

Then we headed up to the Met. We started with the paintings and focused on European, American and Modern. It was fun to see some different paintings than last time. We also checked out the Islam & Middle Eastern Art, Armor, Egyptian, Greek & Roman. We went to every gift shop we could find! Kathy is an art teacher so she was specifically looking for cool items for her kids and I was looking for a mouse pad. We found their ginormous Met Store (which Cindy, Tams and I totally missed somehow!) and found all the things we were searching for... PLUS!

It was about 5:30 when we finished up so we did a little Urban Spoon to find a place to eat. Kathy was thinking Mediterranean and we came across a place called Isabella's on the Upper West Side. We walked across Central Park at about 79th St and it was the most beautiful area! The leaves are starting to change into golds and bright reds. We passed the Great Lawn and watched a little league game. We saw Belvedere Castle and the area where they do Shakespeare plays. So gorgeous - definitely a highlight of my day.

Isabella's turned out to be wonderful. They had outside seating and the most amazing food. I had butternut squash bisque and a salad with arugula, roasted artichokes and parmesan cheese. The soup was so good I had to take most of the salad home. Kathy got a Greek chopped salad which was also super yummy. SCORE!

After we got home, Kathy realized she didn't have her camera cord so we took a stroll down to Times Square to see the sights and find a way to download her photos. We ran into some interesting tourists along the way - a group of Amish boys! That deserved a celebration of cheesecake - so we dropped by Junior's on our way back to the apartment.
Cafe Met - They gave Kath a fruit wipe with her pear!
