Jules and I did a wine and cheese tasting cruise around Manhattan Island last night. It was the most perfect night to be out on the water. There was virtually no wind, cool but not cold and very clear. It was amazing! We took off from Chelsea Piers around 7:00pm and sailed first to see Lady Liberty. I've never seen her up close at night and it was stunning. The Skyline views were also amazing, but the highlight for me was the Statue of Liberty.
The lady who hosted the event is a food specialist and had all this great info about the wine and cheese pairings that we sampled. They literally do just give you a taste of each wine - so by the time the 2 hours is up you have basically drunk about 1 1/2 glasses total. Our favorite was a pinot noir from Oregon's Willamette Valley, paired with a cheddar cheese from Vermont. It was truly amazing. The other one I liked was a Rose from Upstate New York paired with a goat cheese that we ate with dried cranberries. Yum!

All this while cruising by stunning views of the cities' skylines!
After the cruise, we walked around Chelsea a bit and navigated to our favorite C subway and headed back towards home. We decided that we weren't hungry for dinner but that a little dessert would hit the spot. Jules had a craving for pie, so I did a little phone search and found PIE FACE a few blocks from the apartment - and practically next door to David Letterman's theater. We got a selection of mini pies and brought them home to share with the girls. We all enjoyed the pies (super yum!) and heard all about the girls' adventures of the day.
We tucked in pretty late, but oh, so satisfied!!
